Eaton House Schools is shortlisted for an award in the ‘Wellbeing’ category of Independent School Parent magazine's Independent Schools of the Year 2021 Awards. In addition, Eaton House The Manor is shortlisted for an award in the ‘COVID-19 Response’ category.
Eaton House Schools consists of single-sex schools for boys and girls aged 2-13. The schools, based in Belgravia and Clapham, have been providing the finest independent education since 1897. They are known for their outstanding academic success from a non-selective entry, acting as feeders for Westminster, St Pauls’ School for Boys, Eton, Tonbridge, Wycombe Abbey, and many others. Therefore, it is especially pleasing that their commitment to promoting happiness and wellbeing as an essential part of school life is recognised.

Head of Wellbeing
Last year, the school appointed a Head of Wellbeing, Ms Paula Kearney. She oversaw creating a Wellbeing Hub as a long term resource for parents and created a series of ebooks and podcasts, forming a library as a resource for the whole community. She also helped produce a weekly COVID response newsletter to parents. In addition, she arranged thirty minutes ‘listening ear’ sessions as a safe and non-judgmental place for parents to talk about any family or educational issues.
Finally, the school has introduced the gentle Obi, the wellbeing whippet, to the school. He has one blue and one brown eye, and he keeps Paula company in the Wellbeing Office. He loves all the pats and strokes he receives from the children and parents that visit.
Independent School Parent Magazine reports that the response to these awards has again been overwhelming. They are thrilled that a record number of schools from across the country entered nominations into the 24 awards’ categories. The awards have always been to highlight the excellence of the student experience in independent schools.
The Wellbeing and COVID Response awards announcement
Independent Schools of the Year finalists will be revealed on 7 September. The judges will then meet again to decide on the winner of each category. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
